Bertie! Super safe, perfect all rounder to suit a variety of jockeys. 16.1hh 9 year old thoroughbred gelding! Passported and microchipped. Wormed regularly, shod . Great to handle, good to catch, load, travel, pick up feet, ties up patiently, good in a stable. Currently living out rugged up with mares and geldings. Does windsuck but controlled with a collar. He is up too weight and in great condition. Bertie is 110% under saddle, hacks out alone and in company, is more of a kick along cob than a thoroughbred! Will go first or last, yet to spook at anything we've faced him with, has seen large arctic lorries, tractors etc and even horses going past in carts, remaining unphased. Has been ridden by a variety of different jockeys from novice up too experienced. Doesn't get excitable or silly in open spaces, keeps a level head through out! He has 3 established paces and works effortlessly on both reins, has jumped up too 3ft here, with scope and willingness to go higher. I am looking for a gelding between 15.3hh and 16.3hh, 5 to 11 years old. I am a competent but nervous rider, so would like a riding club horse with scope for Novice level eventing. He must be safe and sensible, but also have ability. Essential can hack alone and in company. But will require sole hacking at times, so a must to be able to go out alone. Recently had a check up from the vet and back check. I retired him 2 months ago as I bought a younger horse. He’s been turned out on grass livery. But he looks really fed up he misses doing a job. He’s brilliant with kids novices can ride him. He does not hack alone he just plants his feet. He’s a happy hacker doesn’t like the school but will go in on lead rein. Doesn’t bite buck rear kick etc. Great in traffic. Doesn’t like bycicles snorts at them. He would suit a home as a light hack/companion he has mild arthritis but can still be ridden vet has given the all clear. He is a really lovely boy he can have his stubborn moments but he is great to handle and isn’t a bad bone in his body.before he retired he worked in the riding school doing the kids parties and hacks. hope he can find a lovely home where he will be loved as much as I love him.
