Antique Style Leather Top Desk with matching Captain Chair A beautiful quality set, in excellent condition, Local/national delivery available. This auction is for a fantastic complete home / office set of furniture, which includes a superb knee hole Desk, & a Captain’s chair, both have been restored to their former glory. The desk has 2 pedestals the right hand one has 3 drawers, the left hand one has 2 drawers (one being a file draw), the main body has 3 drawers across the front, with locks & a key is supplied. As you can see the desk has wonderful graining to the body & drawer fronts etc, it is strong construction. With classic swan neck handles fitted to the drawers. The writing surface is topped with a lovely classic green leather inlay with a gilt tooled pattern running around the edge with no rips or tears, it is marked & has slight wear which I believe gives it character & adds to the style. With a great antique style to it in Regency /Georgian manner, it has no wobbles with just wear commensurate with age as it develops its antique character. Measurements, width 48”, height 30”, & depth 24” The chair is a traditional captain’s chair which swivels, tilts & is in full working order, it has a metal core with castors. The chair is in good condition with some real character. Measurements, 33” high (19” high to seat) when raised at mid point, 20” seat width between the arms, 17 seat depth. As you can see both items complement each other, a complete office set in an outstanding condition. These items have been restored, I have treated them both to a sympathetic clean, the wood has been polished with an antique grade Colron beeswax, the leather has been treated with Elephant wax. A used classical-design leather-topped pedestal desk. As I bought the desk second hand some years back I do not know the 'era' or whether 'original or reproduction' which I had to select for placing this advert so please disregard those stated advert details. I replaced the leather top years ago and I believe that the desk is real wood. Dimensions are approximate. Condition is reasonable and has a few scratches/scuffs/chips and 'fairly minor missing drawer piping which should be fairly easy to repair'. This desk should appeal to someone seeking a used classical design desk, in fair condition, at a reasonable price. I do not have drawer keys; they are currently unlocked.
