Grandfather Clock 30 Hour Late 18th century This was my granddads clock, he was always messing with clocks This clock runs well and keeps reasonable time. there is no bell as i remember he said it kept him awake! The Strike hammer is there and works on the hour, also a date dial is present and seems to work. The clock face is crazed and has worn over the years The case is original but needs a lot of TLC The pendulum has been messed about with but it works!! This is a beautiful 8 day longcase clock in very good condition. The movement has been stripped/cleaned and oiled. It has also had new lines fitted and it is in perfect working order couting the hours on a bell. The date aperture is also working. The silvered dial is beautifully engraved and inscribed with the makers name "John Peat" from Crieff, who is listed in Clockmaker's of the world as working in Crieff (Scotland) from to . He is also listed as the maker of the Kenmore church clock. I have found some old paperwork in the case that has a brief history of the clock previous owners. 8 day movement, strikes hrs and marks 1/2 hr able to be set with strike mechanism on, off or daytime only (for light sleepers) purchased new 4 years ago for a project which I'm not going to be able to complete now. Woodwork is reclaimed from a redundant church pew purchased from our village church from which base and upright have so far been constructed as per photo. Top & door needs making from remaining timber and brass ware which will be supplied to the buyer. Note NO glass is included in this sale as this will need to be cut to fit the completed case once made. There is a brass plaque recording the history of the church pew ready to be fitted to the completed clock case. All in I've spent best part of £1k on this so far so it is priced reasonably.
