Offered for sale is our lovely Victorian Solid Oak Carved Longcase 8 day Hall Clock, Which We Have Owned For Many Years. The Case Is Very Heavy, Being Made of Solid Oak Which Has Been Ebonised and Carved To Front of Case at time of Manufacture. Unusually The Hood Slides Upwards, But There Are Side Panels To The Hood To Access Rear of Movement. The Movement Itself is of 8 Day Duration and Has Some of The Thickest Plates I have Ever Seen on a Longcase Clock, There is an A Stamped on Both Great Wheels, (Atkins & Co London ?) The Clock Chimes The Hours on a Gong. The Movement is Original To The Case The Dial Is Brass With Spandrels and Has Lovely Silvered Chapter Ring. It Comes With Its Original Weights and Pendulum The Clock Stands 92 Inches High, So is Very Imposing and Perfect For Standing in a Hall or Large Lounge The Clock Runs and Strikes as it Should, Though Will Likely Need Putting 'In Beat' In Its New Location, As Usually Stated It Would Benefit From Periodic Service. Gorgeous Victorian slate clock case

This a gorgeous, modestly sized, slate and marble Victorian clock case, just waiting to be united with a suitable movement. It is approx 21cm wide, 13cm deep and 22 cm high. Diameter of apertures is approx 10cm. Small nick on edge of coloured marble, bottom left, but otherwise virtually nibble free. It would make a very pretty adornment to any mantlepiece. Collection only, from east Kent (minutes from eastern end of M2) as I would hate to see this damaged in transit. This is a Victorian wooden cased chimes mantel clock - i am not an expert but the wood appears to be oak, and it has a glass panelled door. It has large dimensions of 13" in height x 10.5" in width x 7" deep - it weighs approx 6.5kg unpacked. Unfortunately i have lost the key to this clock, but the last time it was in use it was in working order - however as i cannot guarantee that this is still the case, then it is being sold as spares or repairs. The wooden clock casing is generally in good order, with only minor wear and tear to the extremities (corners, edges, surfaces), but there is no damage to the wood. This a victorian wall clock.It has fusee movement and a twelve inch diameter face.it is still working and keeps excellent time.it will keep working 5 or 6 days with one wind.I purchased this clock while i was working in St Lukes Hospital which was a "Victorian Asylum".The initials M C B A i believe is for Middlesborough County or Cleveland Borough Asylum although some one might know better.The age according to the clock is .It has a opening door at the bottom with a lock and key a hatch at the side and has wooden pins to secure the back to the front. it is in good condition for its age although could possibly do with a clean and service.Please feel free to contact me re a viewing Read more
