Offered for sale is our lovely Victorian Solid Oak Carved Longcase 8 day Hall Clock, Which We Have Owned For Many Years. The Case Is Very Heavy, Being Made of Solid Oak Which Has Been Ebonised and Carved To Front of Case at time of Manufacture. Unusually The Hood Slides Upwards, But There Are Side Panels To The Hood To Access Rear of Movement. The Movement Itself is of 8 Day Duration and Has Some of The Thickest Plates I have Ever Seen on a Longcase Clock, There is an A Stamped on Both Great Wheels, (Atkins & Co London ?) The Clock Chimes The Hours on a Gong. The Movement is Original To The Case The Dial Is Brass With Spandrels and Has Lovely Silvered Chapter Ring. It Comes With Its Original Weights and Pendulum The Clock Stands 92 Inches High, So is Very Imposing and Perfect For Standing in a Hall or Large Lounge The Clock Runs and Strikes as it Should, Though Will Likely Need Putting 'In Beat' In Its New Location, As Usually Stated It Would Benefit From Periodic Service. Here is a lovely fully working grandfather Clock from the mid s. It is driven by weights and runs for eight days. It chimes on a cast bell on the hour. The dial features a second and a date hand both of which work. This is a lovely genuine clock that I have had for many years but a move to a modern house forces the sale. It has a lovely steady tick. Here we have for sale a early 18th century thirty hour longcase clock made by Thomas beeching of Ashburnham the oak case stands at 84in high. It has a blind fret frieze above the glazed door. The thin wast door has a inlaid star motif. the movement is a excellent example of a birdcage movement of 30h duration and still retains it's rope drive it has a anchor escarpment and a count wheel strike. This is a beautiful 8 day longcase clock in very good condition. The movement has been stripped/cleaned and oiled. It has also had new lines fitted and it is in perfect working order couting the hours on a bell. The date aperture is also working. The silvered dial is beautifully engraved and inscribed with the makers name "John Peat" from Crieff, who is listed in Clockmaker's of the world as working in Crieff (Scotland) from to . He is also listed as the maker of the Kenmore church clock. I have found some old paperwork in the case that has a brief history of the clock previous owners.
