Fantastic and incredibly rare Italian Sputnik 'Stilnovo' multi-colour chandelier with twelve shades from the s. At the time, this specimen was designed on commission for an exclusive hotel and it is in stunning vintage condition. The chandelier consists of a brass body finished with twelve cone shaped reflectors of enameled metal in the characteristic original colours. Each reflector is equipped with a ceramic lamp holder E14. The chandelier is in very beautiful retro condition with a stunning brass patina. The diameter is 70 cm and the height is 80 cm. This is a fantastic specimen that is very difficult to find, because they were only made on commission. To maintain the exclusiveness, only a few of them were produced and these have often been repainted in the meantime. Sputnik lamp 's/'s (app. 50CM long and app. 45CM wide, with a diameter of app. 50CM and in a real nice vintage and working condition) The name “Sputnik” refers to the first-ever satellite launched in by the Soviet Union, escalating Cold War tensions. Sputnik officially launched the Space Race that overtook America, leading to the creation of NASA and culminating in putting a man on the moon. The satellite was only about the size of a beach ball, and had four long antennae emanating from its sphere. The Sputnik ceiling light was part of the design period known as the Atomic Age. Designs from this period looked increasingly to science for their inspiration, as fear of atomic energy and nuclear disaster gripped the world (the atomic bomb was first tested in ). Nicely shaped ceiling light from the s.Design is a combination of the folding technique and the warm light effect of the Le Klint lamps and the design of the bubble lamps by George Nelson.The lamp isn't signed (any more). The lamp has a refined Chinese lantern shape. The shade is made from a very finely folded plastic. The space between two folds is only 7 millimetres at the widest point. The shade wedges both at the bottom and the top naturally and perfectly into the metal holder. The colour lies somewhere between salmon red and light brown. A beautiful colour that adds extra warmth to the light effect of the lamp.It takes one E14 light bulb.Including 200 cm new wire and thus suitable for the highest ceilings.Measurements:Height: 23 cmDiameter: approx. 29 cm.Condition:Good to very good.Shade in undamaged condition. Beautiful even colour.
