I seem to have inherited some of their collections but as I am hoping to downsize, its time to reluctantly part with some of them. Made in England Taunton Vale,Wiveliscombe, Somerset, is on some of the items. JA 3 on base of this one Condition This jar is in good condition for its age but is crazed as would be expected for a jar that is vintage. Also, there is an area of repair, situated on the outer rim of the lid. It is approximately 2cms long and partially concealed by the sturdy rubber seal. The area of repair is completely concealed when the lid, (which fits very securely) is on the jar and is protected by the rubber seal. TAUNTON VALE Scales The scales are in pretty good condition, and have just been repainted. They and are FULLY FUNCTIONAL. They are unusual, quite rare and very eye catching. They have always been a talking point when new guests arrive in my home for the first time. The scales are approximately 40 years old. We collected lots of Taunton Vale around the time that we married, and in June we celebrated our Ruby wedding anniversary. Each member of my family collected a different pattern in the collection. I think that this pretty blue one may have been called blue daisy. (They did a yellow one too). As you can see, the metal is lovely and shiny (after just one clean in ages), but there are a just a few very small dark spots on the metal. (A bit of elbow grease may remove most of these).
