The dial has bevelled glass opening door The bell chimes once at each half -hour and strikes each hour according to the time. The beautiful style of this clock has a rounded drum top then beautiful shapely curved sides. The front has shaped Bevelled glass so that the unusual Ellicott pendulum can be seen working and at the back has same shaped slate door to access the pendulum plus a decorative metal door at top back to access the movement. This clock comes complete with winding key and unusual Ellicott pendulum. Clock keeps good time and is in Good working order. A beautiful and large antique mantle or sideboard clock. Measures approximately 19 inches tall. In Belgian Slate with decorative brass appliques. The slate in excellent condition with just a few nibbles hardly noticeable. Nice verdigree patina on the brass. Has a good French movement with the very desirable visible escapement. Rare, Stunning shapely Victorian slate mantle clock with Bell chimes By French clockmaker Vincenti et Cie. The shapely black marble/slate clock case has added decorative green mottled marble around the drum shaped top and base plinth. The dial has visible escapement. The dial has a 15cms diameter bevelled glass opening door. The ceramic dial is in good condition but does have a fine hairline between the V1 and V11 The bell chimes once at each half -hour and strikes each hour according to the time. The beautiful style of this clock has a rounded drum top then beautiful shapely curved sides. The front has shaped Bevelled glass so that the unusual Ellicott pendulum can be seen working and at the back has slate door to access the pendulum plus a glass door at top back to access the movement. There is a medal d’honor stamp on the movement with maker being Vincenti et Cie and a serial number of on the movement. This clock comes complete with bell, winding key and unusual Ellicott pendulum. Clock keeps good time and is in Good working order. The marble and slate also appear to be in overall good order and this is a fine looking clock. There is slight sign of a repair above the green marbelling at top of drum shaping but hardly noticeable. Overall Dimensions - 42cms wide x 15cm deep x 42cms Tall, so would fit on almost any size fireplace or shelf. This is a Japy Frere eight day solid oak clock that dates from circa in very good condition. It is eight inches wide, three and a half inches deep, and five and a half inches high, has a deep reddish colour. The silvered dial has black painted arabic numerals with black hands and has the very high quality movement Japy Frere was renowned for. There is a small circular brass plate at the back covering the winder. This is in a wonderful condition with a nice beaded edge, the only fault is that a small piece of the moulding is missing to the front right hand side but is not noticeable to detract from it's appearance.
