Rare, Stunning shapely Victorian slate mantle clock with Bell chimes. The movement is by French clock maker PR movement no. . This has brass dial and visible escapement. The dial has bevelled glass opening door The bell chimes once at each half -hour and strikes each hour according to the time. The beautiful style of this clock has a rounded drum top then beautiful shapely curved sides. The front has shaped Bevelled glass so that the unusual Ellicott pendulum can be seen working and at the back has same shaped slate door to access the pendulum plus a decorative metal door at top back to access the movement. This clock comes complete with winding key and unusual Ellicott pendulum. Clock keeps good time and is in Good working order. Dimensions - 43cms wide x 15 cms deep x 45 cms Tall, so would fit on almost any size fireplace or shelf. The movement is a quality French "Marti" manufacture, with an attractive pretty palleted open escapement, with easy to see numerals.On the rear of the twin train movement are impressed numbers & makers logo.This clock is a genuine antique,so please accept any usual age related nibbles, wear, or patination,as it is very unusual to find any antique without these characteristics & personally this can add to the feel of the item.
