I brought this boat with the intention of using it as a fishing boat so all the sailing gear has been removed including the brackets for the rudder (all holes have been filled) I've recently acquired a new boat so don't have the time I need for this one anymore hence its for sale. 420 sailing boat dinghy project with trailer and launching trolley

For sale is my old 420 sailing dinghy. This boat is a small project but comes with sails, trailer and launching trolley. It was in use a couple of seasons ago, but has not been used since and hence it looks rather 'the worse for wear'. I have not used the trailer on the road, and imagine it would need a service before this would be recommended, so the boat is for collection. However this is a very cheap, straightforward project for somebody to get on the water, as a good clean up will be the main thing needed initially! I'm keen to pass it on to someone who will get use out of it though. The whole package is yours for £300 ono. The boat is located at Killyleagh. She was built my myself and my build-partner at the Boat Building Academy in Lyme Regis. Design: Gil Smith South Bay Catboat. Construction: Cold-moulded hull. 2x 3mm layers Marine Plywood sandwiched between 3mm veneers of Khaya Mahogany. Planking thickness: 12mm. Sheathed with Xynole for abrasion resistance and strength. Solid Oak centreline structure. A very strong boat built for longevity. Western Red Ceder planked decks and laminated Mahogany transom. Spars are made from Sitka Spruce for lightweight and strength. General: 'Lucille' is an ideal short-term project for someone who has the time and tools to finish her. She can be sailed or sold for a much higher value than listed here. She comes with: her newly-made mainsail, most of the of the wood, fittings, turning blocks and fastenings required to finish her, and her spars (mast, boom, and gaff) are all shaped and varnished. She also comes with a brand new trailer with flushing kit. The majority of the fittings are bronze, many of which have been custom-made for 'Lucille', and she has been built with the utmost care and attention to detail. She is a beautiful boat and needs a new owner to finish her and get her on the water. The reason I am selling Lucille is because I have finished the course and unfortunately no longer have the time to do the required work to get her completed. Eye-catching wooden boat in good repair for age. The GP14 class has been around since the late 's, and is equally at home on inland or sheltered coastal waters. GP stands for General Purpose, and that's exactly what they are. Hull paint and deck varnish in sound condition, with some variation in varnish colour, and internal varnish and raised floor non-slip deck paint is very serviceable. The boat is ready to use and enjoy for the season. Aluminium mast and boom, with kicker and horse mainsheet. Standing and running rigging in good order. Lifting wooden centreboard and rudder with aluminium tiller and extension. There are three mainsails, one with a non matching number is still pretty stiff and crinkly, with a jib and a genoa in similar condition. The other two are nothing to write home about, although one, again with a non matching number has 2 sets of reefing points and a flotation envelope at the head. I have not tried to use it There is a spinnaker, with yet another number, and pole, although the control lines and blocks etc are not fitted, and may not all be there. For storage protection an aged mast-up boat cover in working condition is included, with a small amount of damage around the rudder pintle. The no braked combination trailer and launching trolley is definitely not new, but the tyres and wheel bearings are in good condition, and the road axles are on isolastic type suspension units. The steel chassis are galvanised, and show no sign of corrosion. There is no safety chain/cable, so you may like to fashion your own, and there is no lighting board. There are 2 elderly life-jackets (not buoyancy aids), which can be manually inflated, or gas operated, but one has no CO2 cartridge, but are easy to obtain and replace.
