Leeds Area Riding for the Disabled are looking for volunteers to help with our weekend sessions. We have lessons on Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon. Do I need to know anything about horses? No. RDA provides training for all its volunteers depending on the role you undertake. Do I need previous experience? Not necessarily. RDA has many different types of roles, most of which don’t require any experience. Of course, if you do have skills you’d like to share with us – we’d love to hear from you! How old do I have to be to Volunteer? Volunteers have to be 12 or over. There is no upper age limit. RDA is an approved activity provider of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and volunteering can help towards the award at all levels. We are an animal sanctuary near Raglan, Monmouth and we are looking for a volunteer that is experienced with horses, especially youngsters. We have 2 colts who have had not a lot of handling and we are after someone who can spare a few hours a week getting them used to people, head collar, grooming etc and build a relationship with them. These colts haven't had the best start in life, We have 16 horses altogether along with lambs, sheep and poultry. We offer a forever loving home to all of our rescued animals. Two coloured cobs ready to be broken in: Major - will make 13hh, rising 2 year old piebald cob. Been shown inhand and going exceptionally! Brilliant in traffic. Easy going and gentle lad with a heart of gold. Been handled from a baby, LOVES cuddles and attention. Everyone on the yard absolutely adores him. Excellent with other horses. Can be groomed for hours, will suit anyone, been handled by children, cannot fault him. Perfect for someone wanted to start from the beginning to help break him in, or just learn how to handle safe small horses. Needs lunging/ long reining now/leaning on etc. Will consider selling to the right person. Quinn - will make 14.1hh+, 1 year old skewbald cob, care and attention from a dedicated handler will make a very decent riding/driving horse. Needs someone to start from the beginning and get him used to being handled. Will stand to be groomed all day, had children handling him, but would prefer more experience as he's a little bigger. Good elderly home wanted for disabled cat who likes to relax

Indie is a fluffy black and white cat of 13 years. She is disabled and has always been so, in her old age this results in falling over as one of her back legs is not right. She is a happy cat, in charge of three dogs so is fine with them so long as they are not aggressive. She was spayed as a kitten. We have moved recently to a flat and although she is mostly happy indoors she does miss getting out into a safe outside space occasionally. Our first floor flat has a cat flap but she is not able to use it because of her disability. She is fine with a litter tray too. Prefers dry cat food. Her ideal home would be with a retired person who is at home to keep her company a lot of the time, she is healthy and has not cost us any horrible vet bills. Preferably someone who can let her out for a while into a small safe garden and make sure she is in again at night, she does not like to stay out at night and finds a cat flap too difficult for her.
