Antique framed C19 Derbyshire etching print

This black and gilt framed picture measures 26 cms x 20 cms. It shows Dovedale in Derbyshire and is original, not reproduction. It has been in my possession for over thirty years. On the back it is credited to Allom, dated . It has been hand coloured since colour printing was not available at the time it was published in a book. It is presently located in Malvern for collection. The price of £12 does not include p&p and it can be posted to wherever you are. The photo of this picture was taken very close up - inches away - so it is slightly distorted. A charming antique. I have six framed antique pictures of engravings like this, all have been subtly coloured. The others are of Curzon Street, Derby; Derby Market Place (); Markeaton Hall Derbyshire (J P Neale); Monsal Dale Derbyshire (), and another of Dovedale also by Allom but coloured differently. Besides these, the Edinburgh school had contributed the systematic treatises of Andrew Fyfe, John Bell and John Gordon. In appeared the first edition of Quain's Anatomy. This monumental work, which is still among the very first of English textbooks, has run through ten editions, and is of even greater value to the teacher and researcher than to the medical student; hardly any of his original work now remains. In another famous text-book on systematic anatomy appeared, written by Henry Gray, it pays more attention to the surgical applications of anatomy than to the scientific and morphological side, and has reached nearly 40 editions. Besides these systematic treatises, many dissecting manuals have been published. The earliest were the Dublin Dissector and the London Dissector; others still in use are those of G. V. Ellis, C.
