I first came across the Classic series after looking up Simon Neil's (of Biffy Clyro) guitar rig. Anyone who has seen them live will be aware of how great his guitar sounds. He uses a Classic 30 and a Delta Blues in his rig I believe! Anyway, I cannot keep them all, although they will eventually be put to use in the studio if I cant shift them. It has a solid state preamp section and a tube power amp section, basically the opposite of the Marshall Valvestate which has a tube in t he preamp but a solid state power amp. However, I much prefer a tube power amp/solid state preamp to solid state power amp/tube preamp. And those VT series Classics sound pretty good and Power tubes are 2 6l6GC's and the amp is fixed non adjustable bias so normally you will be fine when changing power tubes without a bias check. Great sounding little amp for practice, recording or small gigs. This amp is in as new condition, with all standard components, except that I've added a built in reverb. The reverb can be switched out from the front panel - in which case the amp circuit is EXACTLY as original - or, when switched in it can be dialled in to give as little or as much effect as needed. I will provide a full circuit diagram of the modification which was designed and installed by a professional (BBC) electronics engineer. I have done one or two small gigs with this amp and used it for recording and practice sessions. It is fairly loud for it's size but don't expect it to keep up with a rock drummer! These amps do sound better through a larger speaker (I tried wiring it up to a 2 x 12" cab and it sounded awesome) but, obviously, a lot of the appeal is its small size and weight.
