OLD VINTAGE LARGE STEAMER TRUNK/CHEST

Hi I have for sale a lovely old Large vintage steamer trunk/chest The steamer trunk has been painted in a soft grey colour and has a lift out tray inside. The trunk does require new leather handles or you could use rope. There is slight bubbling on top and at the back please see pictures, but this does not effect the use of the trunk which is very solid and heavy piece of furniture. Would suit any room in the house or would be fab as a shop display. Pick up only due to weight or could deliver locally for fuel costs. Louis Vuitton Trunk Case - Steamer Trunk - Antique - Coffee

Louis Vuitton Trunk - Orange Vuittonite This trunk dates from circa and considering its age and the extensive traveling it has endured the trunk is in great condition. The construction of the case consists of a strong wooden frame wrapped with the rare orange vuittonite canvass and finished with brown leather protective trims, and branded studs, clasps and latches. Both serial numbers can be found on the inside of the lid and below the main clasp. These can identify where and when the trunk was made. The Trunk was owned by C F A Pantin who we believe was a British Zoologist educated at Christ College Cambridge. Pantin was elected as a fellow of the Royal Society in and won the Royal medal in . He went on to become the president of the Marine Biological Association. More information can be found out about him on Wikipedia. Measurements Length - 101 cm Width - 53 cm Height - 34.5 cm This would make a wonderful coffee table or center piece for any room. Condition As can be expected from an antique trunk of this age there are marks and scuffs to both the fabric and the leather to the exterior of the case (Please study photos). The interior, although in great condition, is missing the internal tray and in one corner, on the underside of the lid, the fabric has come away due to a missing fabric pin.
