A C19th Stained Pine & Iron Bound Silver Chest Trunk Storage Box Coffee Table A C19th stained pine and iron bound silver chest or trunk, but could no be used as a great storage box, coffee table or kids toy box. The chest is formed with it being made from stained pine which has a great colour and wear to it. The chest is then bound to the edges with large painted iron mounts. It also has two lock plates on the front. On either side it would have had two chunky carrying handles, one is now missing. Opening the trunk it is lined in base to the edges and lid. The trunk has many new uses and would fit in any home easily. The trunk dates to around . Size Height ” Width 36” Depth 22” Condition The condition of the trunk is very good, it is missing one handle, missing main lock, and the trunk has scratches scuffs, marks and split to top and it has had some old woodworm on top which has all been treated again but very good commensurate to age, all giving it a good original look and character. Antique old brass bound sea chest box trunk with false base compartment.

Please study all photographs carefully as these also form part of the description. Beautiful Victorian Pine Chest / Trunk with brass drop handles. Brass lock escutcheon, and original solid brass quality drop handles. It has had some renovation (mainly a small wood insert in one edge) in the past, as is to be expected because of its age, but it is in a nice polished condition.  It is brass bound, and is made of Brazilian mahogany - very thick and heavy.    It has a false panel in the internal base for smuggling, when it was originally a sea chest, I believe.   I have owned it for 50 years, but I no longer have the room for it.   There is no woodworm - its too hard for the little blighters! A perfect Coffee Table ? Length 77cm Width 45cm Height 47cm It provides an ideal storage solution for papers / magazines or would look fabulous as a lamp or coffee table. A nice piece of furniture to enhance any home. As this is an old chest, the usual marks, and knocks are present commensurate with age and use.
