This wonderful piece of furniture was bought by my late grandfather sometime in the last century - the Vanson nameplate on the back probably dates it to the s. I've never seen anything similar - but due to downsizing it is time for it to find a new home. It has two spacious drawers and a hinged leaf that locks, the key is provided and the lock works. The flap comes down to reveal a writing desk (or a laptop desk now) and interior compartments. Dimensions: overall height 105cm, width 76 cm, cabinet tapers from 40 cm deep at the bottom to 35cm deep at the top. Flap sits at 75 cm off the floor when open and legs are approx 35 cm tall. Four carpet protectors included - but nothing else, whatever you may see in the photo. I haven't got a weight but it is a two person lift. It is basically sound - the lock works, the drawers work, the leaf hinges work - but some restoration wouldn't hurt.The laminate front on the drawers is damaged, there is a drink ring mark on the top and the outer flap has circular marks from the key fob. Also other scratches to woodwork in various places. In short, it has been used. It has been in non-smoking and pet-free houses for decades, but when you open it there is still a faint smell of my grandfather's cigars. This is a teacher's desk familiar to many. The tawse would have been in the top right hand drawer. The desk is very strong and stable, a great surface for many kinds of work. It measures 53 inches wide, 30 inches deep and 30 inches high. It has two full depth drawers on each side. It is fully finished on the back with a modesty panel so it doesn't have to stand against a wall. It does show some signs of use. You should be able to see this in the pics. Vintage Mid Century Light Oak Desk/Writing Desk Beautifully made piece of old furniture. This is a very large desk, it measures: 137cm wide 76cm deep 75 cm tall The top does come off to assist moving it, with metal fittings under the top that can be undone to take the top off (although i have not tried this as we moved it into my home as whole) One very wide shallow draw across the middle with 2 deeper drawers on the right hand side and a handy writing/paper ledge that pulls out at the top. There are a quite a few ring marks on the top and some other marking on the top from years of use, and some surface damage to the left hand drawer handle, which could be sanded down. It is still a beautiful solid piece of vintage furniture despite the signs of wear, but selling at a lower price because of this. Only selling due to lack of space.
