This late Victorian oak fire surround was removed from a late Georgian house during a recent renovation. It features a row of original tiles situated beneath the mantelpiece and detailed hand carving of oak leaves towards both the left and right corners. Gorgeous Victorian Secretaire - WE CAN DELVIER

We have for sale simply lovely Victorian Secretaire. This is a real head turner, a striking piece with extensive carving detail throughout. This solid mahogany secretaire would have been for the 'lady of the house', used for paperwork and correspondence and providing storage and display for books and keepsakes. The front 'drawer' opens to reveal a beautifully fitted desk with pigeon holes and six little drawers. Sadly the desk area has 'dropped' due to age (shown in the photograph). Below is a double door shelved cupboard giving bags of storage, a bookcase arrangement sits on top and has double glazed doors (fantastic for keeping down dust) the case is topped with a decorative 'crown' with flower and folaige carving. A really wonderful piece that is not too wide and would look fantastic in atraditional sandstone or high ceileinged property. Really gorgeous piece that I have owned for over 40 years but have reluctantly decided to sell following a recent house move as it no longer fits in my new home. I have used it to as a bookcase and desk in the past but for the past several years I have used it to show crystalware. It splits into two sections for ease of transport - the lower leg section is separate from the top. The doors to the top are in the original leaded glass and there are four shelves inside. The middle section folds out as a desk and inside are lots of compartments and drawers that holds masses. Below this section are three large drawers. The wood has a gorgeous patina - it is a beautiful piece that looks wonderful in any room setting. A very reluctant sale. In excellent condition.
