The place where he wrote this work was the (now so-called) Martinetkoepel on the Zutphen city wall. Martinet died after a stroke in in Amsterdam and was buried there in the Nieuwe Kerk.Martinet was married but had no children. Bevor sie die Sieben verlässt warnt sie ihre Kinder davor Fremde einzulassen. Kurze Zeit später klopft der böse Wolf an der Tür und bittet um Einlass. Die Geißlein lassen sich allerdings nicht von seiner Verkleidung täuschen und verwehren ihm den Eintritt. Da frisst der Wolf Kreide um die Stimme der Mutter nachahmen zu können. Als er abermals am Haus anklopft, fallen die Kinder auf den Trick herein und öffnen die Tür. Sechs Kinder frisst der Wolf, das siebte aber versteckt sich in der Standuhr. Als die Mutter heimkommt findet sie nur das kleinste Geißlein vor, welches ihr von dem Unglück berichtet. Er schießt einem dreimal den Bissen vor dem Mund weg, worauf sie ihm anbieten, mit ihnen zu gehen und für sie die Königstochter aus dem Turm hinter dem See zu rauben. < br /> < br /> Der Räuberbräutigam< br /> Ein Müller verspricht seine Tochter einem reichen Mann.
