These discs are recognised directly by PC-based editing systems, avoiding the need for audio ripping. It has a flexible array of balanced and unbalanced digital and analog inputs and outputs, and other professional features, including multiple record resolutions, easy track labeling, simple transport controls and fader start, to make it equally at home mastering CDs or as a playback machine in the conference centre, theatre, stadium or broadcast studio. CR500 CD Master Recorder Ten memory points may be programmed per disk, the memory supports up to 100 discs. Instant play, and power-on play functions are useful for events and installations, Program play supports up to 99 songs per disc. The CR500 offers CD-DA and BWF(stereo poly-file), on UDF, file format recording, complying to ISO (playback only) and UDF version 1.02. Note that CDs recorded in BWF (UDF1.02) can be recognized by Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS from 10.5 onwards. The front panel has a CD drawer, a central LCD display showing status, two LED bar-graph displays for level, and a plethora of control buttons. On the left of the panel are buttons for power, open/close, play mode and repeat. Inputs are set with two rotary level controls; a 6.35mm stereo headphone jack has an associated volume control. A USB socket provides connection for a keyboard (only), not supplied, which may be used for entering file names and transport control. To the right, the display button changes the mode of the time display, a button selects the file and two further buttons with adjacent LED indicators set the record ready mode and start the machine recording. The last is inline with the four other transport controls; stop/home, play, stop/home, play, rewind (!), and fast forward. Ten alpha-numeric keys are used for locating tracks and entering alphanumeric characters. Seven further buttons are associated with menu navigation and operation. On the rear there are two balanced analogue inputs using female XLR connectors, and two balanced analogue outputs with male XLRs. Two pairs of RCA (phono) sockets provide the unbalanced inputs and outputs. Note that if both unbalanced and balanced inputs are connected, the unbalanced connection takes priority, and the balanced input is disabled. One female and one male XLR provide digital input and output respectively. The inputs recognise AES/EBU or S/P DIF formats automatically, the outputs may be set by the menu.
