In terms of semi-pro equipment, the R8 is perhaps the most advanced 8-Track ever made. It's also one of the easiest to use and best sounding. This was the last 8-Track Fostex made before switching to digital in the late 's, and is packed with the kind of features usually reserved for professional machines. First among these is the ability to sync it with your DAW, and have the sound of analogue tape with the convenience of digital recording. I've had half a dozen of them over the years, and always regretted letting them go. The FD8 offers multitrack recording that can integrate with almost any setup, plus the means to take your work beyond its modest limits. The FD8 makes the most of having a digital mind. There are two layers of additional tracks: 9-16 and , you just swap them around -- individually or as groups of eight -- with the real tracks 1-8. It's all done with the Track Exchange feature in the Edit menu and takes virtually no time. Very handy. The icing on the cake is the Recorder In feature, which enables a 16-channel mixdown using the monitor section together with recorded tracks playing back through the channel faders. These discs are recognised directly by PC-based editing systems, avoiding the need for audio ripping. It has a flexible array of balanced and unbalanced digital and analog inputs and outputs, and other professional features, including multiple record resolutions, easy track labeling, simple transport controls and fader start, to make it equally at home mastering CDs or as a playback machine in the conference centre, theatre, stadium or broadcast studio. CR500 CD Master Recorder Ten memory points may be programmed per disk, the memory supports up to 100 discs. Instant play, and power-on play functions are useful for events and installations, Program play supports up to 99 songs per disc. The CR500 offers CD-DA and BWF(stereo poly-file), on UDF, file format recording, complying to ISO (playback only) and UDF version 1.02.
