This is an exceptionally beautiful pressure in the rare first state of three, for applying the air and the number - more beautiful than that in the Rijksprentenkabinet! The blade is in very good condition.Dirck Stoop (Utrecht, around there) was a Dutch painter, draftsman and etcher from the period of the Golden Age. He produced portraits and cityscapes, but especially landscapes, often with riders and hunting scenes, and depictions of battles and battles. Dirck was a son of the glass painter Willem Jansz. Stoop, who probably also was his teacher. He was a brother of the painter Maerten Stoop. Arnold Houbraken calls him "De braeve Paardeschilder Dirck Stoop" in De groot schouburgh der Nederlantsche konstschilders en schilderessen ().Dirck Stoop often stayed abroad. In the period he would have been in Italy after which he returned to Utrecht. In he was at the court in Portugal. In he worked in England. Much less known is this additional volume which contains an extensive selection of archive materials which were published in their original form.
