This is a very attractive ong>bureauong> in very good condition. External features include attractive inlay, brass handles and glass trellis work on the bookcase doors. The leather surface of the desk surface is in good condition, as are the small drawers inside the main ong>bureauong>. The key works for the ong>bureauong>, top drawer and the glass doors. Please note that the top of the ong>bureauong> is scratched (see final photo), though you don't see this as the bookcase rests on top of it. The glazed bookcase and the ong>bureauong> are separate parts. A very attractive late Victorian/ong>Edwardianong> ong>inlaidong> mahogany ong>bureauong> / writing desk circa , in good condition. It is relatively small and lightweight, and would fit into a smallish space (for example, the corner of a sitting room or study, or entrance hall). The desk is ong>inlaidong> with lighter woods, probably satinwood and boxwood. It has cabriole legs and drop handles. The writing surface folds down and is supported by two retractable arms. There are three generous drawers in its lower part. The desk measures 76 cm (30”) wide, 41 cm (16”) deep and 91 cm (39.5”) tall. It has a writing height of 68 cm (26.5″). Vintage Bureau Bookcase, unusual EYE pattern on desk lid

A traditional ong>Bureauong> Bookcase from around the mid 's - possibly 's. It has a lovely patina to it - not sure but it could be walnut? What is VERY UNUSUAL about it though, is that the drop-down lid (which forms the writing desk part of the ong>bureauong>), shows a pattern which looks a lot like the 'Big Brother Eye logo symbol', or similar. The ong>bureauong> and bookcase separate into two sections, making it easier to transport. They could probably be used separately too but I have always kept them as one. The sizes are approximately: 76 inches High - (bookcase section being 36 inches, ong>bureauong> section being 40 inches) 29 and a half inches Wide 19 inches deep for the ong>Bureauong> section (approx 18 inches excluding the Queen Ann legs, which jut outwards at the largest part) 9 inches deep for the Bookcase section As expected with old furniture, there are areas of wear and tear and also some small sections are chipped and missing in places. Please see photos for further information. There is a key supplied with the bookcase (not sure if it is original, the lock sticks a little, so needs attention). The writing desk lid does not lock as there is a small section missing internally. This is a lovely, old item with a unique modern twist to it. Perhaps Channel 5 would like it for the next series of Big Brother? Failing that, it could be kept as it is, or be an upcycling project for the Annie Sloan or Farrow & Ball crafters! Read More
