Glazed cabinet has two removeable shelves. Fitted with lock and key and metal drawer handles. It has a drop down desk top, which is fully supported underneath by wooden supports that slide out automatically. Bureau has letter racks but no leather insert or writing area. In very good condition, however has some signs of wear on the inside of glass cabinet, where lead retainer will nee some attention on one pane, and on outside wooden beading near bottom right leg. Both original parts are supplied. No visible Makers Marks. Antique bookcase and bureau, Antique Bureau and glass fronted bookcase.This item is in as original condition as it was when made, with a few age related changes. Aren't we all.You can see from the photo's that this item has barley twist legs x 4 with stays between each leg to give strength to it.It is a solidly built item as were all items from this time period, the bookcase has four shelves for which only three are shown as the shelves are adjustable via a pin system along the inside of the unit. The fourth shelve is still with the item.The bookcase glass is made up of small pieces connected via lead connections as can be seen in photo's, one of the sections top right of the left door got cracked when lifting it onto the bureau.The bookcase has what looks like it's original lock with key.The right bookcase door is bowed due to it's age as is the door on the bureau, but the bookcase door still shuts and locks with original parts, only being honest.The bureau has four shelves inside with three separation boards to give three pigeon hole, photo's can be supplied if required, it also has it's original resting beams that come out under the bureau door.The bureau and bookcase together are 87" high x 35" wide x 17" deep.The bookcase does come apart from the bureau for ease of transporting but you will still need a large van.We are only selling this item due to moving house.We are situated in Chedworth, between Cirencester and North Leach, we are not in Cheltenham as Trade-It has us situated. £, Cheltenham,.

This is a very attractive bureau in very good condition. External features include attractive inlay, brass handles and glass trellis work on the bookcase doors. The leather surface of the desk surface is in good condition, as are the small drawers inside the main bureau. The key works for the bureau, top drawer and the glass doors. Please note that the top of the bureau is scratched (see final photo), though you don't see this as the bookcase rests on top of it. The glazed bookcase and the bureau are separate parts. A very attractive late Victorian/Edwardian inlaid mahogany bureau / writing desk circa , in good condition. It is relatively small and lightweight, and would fit into a smallish space (for example, the corner of a sitting room or study, or entrance hall). The desk is inlaid with lighter woods, probably satinwood and boxwood. It has cabriole legs and drop handles. The writing surface folds down and is supported by two retractable arms. There are three generous drawers in its lower part. The desk measures 76 cm (30”) wide, 41 cm (16”) deep and 91 cm (39.5”) tall. It has a writing height of 68 cm (26.5″).
