A lovely quality black english leather GP saddle made by GFS/Fieldhouse. The saddle measures 17" from stud to cantle, 9.5 inches between the D rings and 5.25 inches between the padding in the gullet where it would sit on the horses back. The tree is sound as is all the stitching, the girth straps are in good order and the flocking is smooth and even with a nice amount of give in it. There is a bit of surface cracking to the leather on the saddle flaps and the gfs badge is missing on the off side but otherwise a very nice saddle in good condition.

This is a good quality saddle which originally cost £800 ten years ago. It is in good condition for it's age, but does have some marks and signs of wear. In particular, there is some damage to the cantle, which can clearly be seen from the photos, but this does not detract from it's usability, and is reflected in the reasonable price.

The D - D rings measurement is 8 1/2" and the internal gullet measures front 3 1/4" Middle 1 3/4" and back 1 1/4". It is showing some signs of wear at the cantle and pommel but does not effect its use. Also there are two indentation marks on the seat which is not visual when in use along with two small scratch marks.

Unfortunately this saddle is surplus to requirements as whilst it fits the pony, it doesn't fit the child it was intended for! It is in extremely good condition and as the photos show is leather with serge panels and synthetic flaps so is the best of all worlds! It has a wide gullet & wide panels to distribute the weight of the rider away from the spine, and is designed to fit awkward-shaped native ponies with broad flat backs & no withers. I do not have space in my tack room for all the saddles that I have found really useful and comfortable so am having a clear-out and getting rid of everything very cheaply! I have listed this item elsewhere so may end the auction early, but I am happy for anyone near to RG9 to view it, or else to try it on. 16" Narrow/Medium Black Thorowgood saddle. This saddle was used on one of my horses, who has now been sold, which means I have no use for it. Its a brilliant saddle so don't want it going to waste in my tack room! The girth straps are in fantastic condition, no marks (shown in pictures). The saddle in itself is in very good condition, just a few hairs here are there. The stitching is all in good order. There is a very small mark on the right knee pad. Its not a tare, as there inst a hole, its like a hard bit of the material in which I also tried to show in the pictures. This saddle has detachable knee rolls to suit your preference.
