This is a rare second hand Black St Merryn Working Hunter saddle, designed by Heather Moffett and made by Barrie Swain in Walsall, UK. 17" doeskin seat and knee pads and hard wearing buffalo hide flaps. The St Merryn is built on Aulton and Butler Holistic tree, which moves with the back of the horse, giving greater freedom of movement. The seat features an exclusive seamfree Seatbone Saver memory foam top built in. Wide half Owen panels, wool flocked and covered in serge which is soft and moulds to the horse's back. Small rear gussets. Stirrup bars are so called show bars, which are extended from the ordinary position, but are not as far back as in Heather's dressage saddles. Brown English made GP  by Barrie Swain. British standard on the stirrup bar and serial number stamped on the plate.  Very comfy. With a full french serge panel with quilting on the sweatflap. Good knee block. Scrumph hide on the seat and knees. Good all round saddle - would look equally neat in the show ring for WH. Measures just over 17" from stud to centre of cantle.  Measures a good 8" across the dee's. This is a nice medium fit. Flap measures 15" from stirrup bar to bottom.  Tree is sound. The stitching is strong and girth straps are sound and solid. Normal signs of  use. Nice wool flocked panels are soft and even. Beautiful leather quality, soft and supple throughout. Has a small repair to the underside of the panel where the serge has worn slightly - not seen or felt in use. Please see pic. Pics really do not do this saddle justice. Semi Flex 17.5" Working Hunter Saddle by Barrie Swain on a Holistic Freedom Tree. Brown buffalo hide with black seat panel and knee rolls in calfskin..The saddle is just over a year old. The SemiFlex tree moves with the horse and allows the rider to feel and connect with that movement. The SemiFlex tree flexes from front to back when the rider sits, and the points flex in and out with the horse's movement, providing optimum comfort for the horse. Half Owen serge panels, short girth straps. Removable knee blocks, small thigh rolls and the original saddle cover. A small mark on the cantle but otherwise in very good condition, only lightly used. Currently a wide fitting but can be adjusted to your horse. The price of a new SemiFlex saddle is £. Also available Barrie Swain Dressage knee blocks which can be used on this saddle.
