Brown English made GP  by Barrie Swain. British standard on the stirrup bar and serial number stamped on the plate.  Very comfy. With a full french serge panel with quilting on the sweatflap. Good knee block. Scrumph hide on the seat and knees. Good all round saddle - would look equally neat in the show ring for WH. Measures just over 17" from stud to centre of cantle.  Measures a good 8" across the dee's. This is a nice medium fit. Flap measures 15" from stirrup bar to bottom.  Tree is sound. The stitching is strong and girth straps are sound and solid. Normal signs of  use. Nice wool flocked panels are soft and even. Beautiful leather quality, soft and supple throughout. Has a small repair to the underside of the panel where the serge has worn slightly - not seen or felt in use. Please see pic. Pics really do not do this saddle justice. This is a rare second hand Black St Merryn Working Hunter saddle, designed by Heather Moffett and made by Barrie Swain in Walsall, UK. 17" doeskin seat and knee pads and hard wearing buffalo hide flaps. The St Merryn is built on Aulton and Butler Holistic tree, which moves with the back of the horse, giving greater freedom of movement. The seat features an exclusive seamfree Seatbone Saver memory foam top built in. Wide half Owen panels, wool flocked and covered in serge which is soft and moulds to the horse's back. Humphries and Swain 18" working hunter/GP saddle brown

This is an old but very useful saddle. I've used it for BE eventing and a friend has used it on a horse that was otherwise impossible to fit. Horses seem to love it. It is currently fitted for a wide horse but I believe it can be altered by Barrie Swain. Has short straps for a long girth. Brown serge panels. Wide surface area. In fantastic condition, no scuffs/marks. Always looked after. If I'm honest, it is quite a hard seat, but I'm quite skinny! I've put up with it because the horse's comfort comes first. Read More
