The background with Gothic pointed arch of bronze is from the same time and site (archaeological find of the lost Reimerswaal) and mounted on a console. Height of image 3.4 cm, background 5 cm and including 7 cmIn its heyday, Reimerswaal was the third largest city in the province of Zeeland. In , Reimerswaal was given city rights. Reimerswaal was the place where the Dutch counts were inaugurated. In , the son of Charles V, Philip II, was honoured as count of Zeeland.On 5 November , a large part of the outer surroundings was swept away by the Saint-Felix flood. In , a storm destroyed the last surrounding villages. In , the last dam around the city broke and consequently Reimerswaal quickly lost its glory.
