A lovely and majestic French Marble clock, almost 20 inches tall {Very Heavy}. Appears to be of high quality. The movement may be somewhat different than the basic French marble type, as the pendulum bob is a surprising 2 inches in diameter and heavy. The tick is really quiet for such a big clock, and the gong strike mellow. It seems to be keeping good time. Although heavy this seems very different to the normal French marble clocks. HERE I HAVE FOR SALE A VICTORIAN ADAMANTINE STRIKING MANTLE CLOCK. I HAVE A REPORT AND RECEIPT FOR THE WORK DONE ON THE RESTORATION, THE REPORT ON THE CLOCK CALLS IT A BLACK BELGIAN MARBLE CASED FRENCH STRIKING CLOCK CIRCA ..UNDERGONE SA COMPLETE RESTORATION IT IS IN FULL WORKING ORDER AND IN VERY VERY GOOD ORDER.. THERE ARE PHOTO'S WITH THE CLOCK SHOWING IT HAD A COMPLETE STRIP DOWN AT THIS TIME. IT HAS TAKEN A LITTLE PATIENCE BUT I HAVE SET THE CLOCK UP AND CAN REPORT THE CHIME ETC WORKS AS IT SHOULD STRIKES ON THE HOUR THE HOUR SO 3 STRIKES IF IT,S 3 O CLOCK AND SO ON AND ONCE EVERY HALF HOUR, ALSO IT KEEPS VERY GOOD TIME, THIS WAS NOT THE CASE WHEN FIRST SET IT UP BUT WITH PATIENCE IT KEEPS GOOD TIME THE CLOCK IS VERY HEAVY, SO I'M SWAPPING OR SELLING ON A MEET ONLY BASIS FROM MINE TO WHERE EVER WE MEET HALF WAY. OR I AM PREPARED TO ASSIST WITH YOUR COURIER. THIS CLOCK HAS BEEN LEFT TO ME HAVING ADMIRED IT FOR SEVERAL YEARS AT GRANDPAS RESIDENCE, I CANNOT GIVE MUCH MORE INFORMATION. A beautiful and large antique mantle or sideboard clock. Measures approximately 19 inches tall. In Belgian Slate with decorative brass appliques. The slate in excellent condition with just a few nibbles hardly noticeable. Nice verdigree patina on the brass. Has a good French movement with the very desirable visible escapement.
