For sale, a beautiful antique Victorian cs Majolica Pitcher, with a lady holding an urn on the front. Good condition, few minor small chips to the spout and handle, but this is only indicative of its age. Beautiful piece, with pink inside and tell-tale genuine crazing. Measuring 8.5 inches high. No marks on the bottom (most Majolica doesn't) and the colours would be described as "gaudy", cobalt and brown. Unusual design, not seen before. Viewing locally, collect only, offers accepted.

ELABORATE ANTIQUE FRENCH MAJOLICA LAVABO (512)

An elaborate antique French majolica wall mounting lavabo and cover, of bulbous semi-circular form the lid moulded with flowers and leaves, scrolling handle and scallop thumb piece, the body moulded with bullrushes and seahorses, the heads forming the handles above a bulbous base with wooden dispensing tap, 57cm high A lavabo is a device used to provide water or the washing of hands. Consists of an ewer or container to pour water and a bowl to catch water as it falls over the hands. Originally this would have had the addition of a matching water bowl attached to the wall beneath the lavabo but this is missing. On the rear of the lavabo is marked '99 Bis F' Good overall condition though has been repaired to the inside rear surface of the cistern so may not be watertight.
