Large Antique Cut Glass Apothecary Urn or Chemist Display Jar

Large Antique Cut Glass Apothecary Urn or Chemist Display Jar An Impressively Large and Elegant early 20th Century French Cut Glass Apothecary Urn with original Lid. Intended for Window Displays and shop dressing, though some were used for more practical uses. The Jar has an ovoid or Egg shaped body, balanced on a stepped hexagon pedestal base, the lid is sleek and fluid in design finished with a tall tapering finial. The main glass body is decorated with tapering thin cut lines, broken up twice with a leaf garland design. The Urn is in excellent condition for its age, material, and use. The glass is crack and chip free and clear, though there are some small imperfections and tiny air bubbles. There is some usual light surface scratching, however the base is unmarked as is the lid which is unusual especially around the rim. Dimensions Overall Measurements: H 72.5 x W 28 x D 8 cm Base: 17.5 x 15cm Top Opening Diam: 16 cm Lid alone: H 28.5 cm Base Opening Diam: 14.5 cm Condition As stated, the Urn is in excellent condition for its age, material, and use. Here is a beautiful set of brass scales in a wooden and glass case complete with a set of brass weights. This is a very unusual yet very precise weighing instrument. These are known as apothecary scales, more commonly used by chemists from the turn of the 20th Century. The scales are in magnificent condition, as is the oak case that features a lift up front panel to give access to the scales. Antique shop scales with brass goods and weights pans

Antique shop scales with brass goods and weights pans. Mounted on a wooden base with levelling feet. 21 in wide x 10 in deep x 18 in high. Probably used in a tobacconist's shop. Made by Avery of Birmingham. One side is in good condition with wear commensurate with its age. The other side has suffered from bleaching, probably being stood in a shop window, and has marks due to sellotape. Otherwise appears to be in good working condition.
