He has reduced the lower face to a slightly concave plane on which the only features are twoholes which are the eyes. Bronze sculpture by Adrien Etienne Gaudez (French sculptor, ) titled "Etoile du Matin" (Morning star, nickname of the planet Venus). Depicting the embodiment of Venus, standing on a half ball with one leg. The ball is decorated with a zodiac with symbols. The right arm reaches to the starry sky (the star in the hand is missing). The base has a plaque with the inscription "Etoile du Matin par A. Gaudez Hors Concours". On the left bottom side of the sculpture stands the signature "H. Gaudez" (instead of A.; presumably a mistake from the foundry). The marble base is placed later on for stability.Size: Height excl. base ca 54 cm.Height of the pedestal 4 cm.Weight including: ca. 6.2 kg. Condition: In good general condition. The star in the right hand is missing. The base of the sculpture (bottom of ball) is slightly bent, which destabilises the sculpture a bit. This has been fixed by a metal plate that was placed between the bronze parts (see last picture), also the marble base placed later on brings more stability.
