This Antique Victorian Writing Slope circa, has been constructed from walnut with brass plaque and brass escutcheon. The interior comprises of an early, tooled writing insert and removable pen tray, a flip out lidded compartment for pens, nibs etc. The inside main surface has a black original lining with a decorative boarder and corner motifs. A two-sided insert, when opened up, reveals two separate storage areas for letters and documents. Some scratches and dents, a veneer is missing in a few places, cracks to the black leather and inside lid has been reinforced with a green velvet, please see the photos, otherwise in a very good condition. Antique writing slope, being of burr walnut (it is unusual to find a box of this wood), in excellent condition and containing the original brass top inkwell. The key is included and all the internal green baize is in good condition. The base of the box is also covered with green baize. All the internal compartments are clean and undamaged. Antique Writing Slope in Burr Walnut with Brass Fittings

This very nice Writing Slope in Burr Walnut with Brass Fittings is in generally good condition for it's age. It has a secret compartment as shown in the photos. A quite small amount of work would make this Slope a very desirable item. There is a very small piece of brass strip missing left of the centre brass square on top of the lid, and some minor cracks in the case as shown in the photos, also the key is missing.
