This is an Edwardian bureau in Mahogany in great condition. It is on four ball and claw feet with two large opening drawers and a fold down flap with writing surface. The top section contains a small pull out drawer and six compartments for stationery or letters. The lock has a functional key for security and it is a beautiful piece of furniture for any room or office. We have redesigned the room and now it is surplus to requirements. This is a very attractive bureau in very good condition. External features include attractive inlay, brass handles and glass trellis work on the bookcase doors. The leather surface of the desk surface is in good condition, as are the small drawers inside the main bureau. The key works for the bureau, top drawer and the glass doors. Please note that the top of the bureau is scratched (see final photo), though you don't see this as the bookcase rests on top of it. The glazed bookcase and the bureau are separate parts. A very attractive late Victorian/Edwardian inlaid mahogany bureau / writing desk circa , in good condition. It is relatively small and lightweight, and would fit into a smallish space (for example, the corner of a sitting room or study, or entrance hall). The desk is inlaid with lighter woods, probably satinwood and boxwood. It has cabriole legs and drop handles. The writing surface folds down and is supported by two retractable arms. There are three generous drawers in its lower part. The desk measures 76 cm (30”) wide, 41 cm (16”) deep and 91 cm (39.5”) tall. It has a writing height of 68 cm (26.5″). Edwardian Mahogany Ladies Cylinder Roll Top Writing Bureau This ladies writing bureau has lovely form and colour. It has a simple and elegant shape with slender tapered legs with boxwood inlay. Elsewhere on the bureau there is ebony and boxwood inlay in the rope style. On the outside the Mahogany has faded over time to a wonderful golden brown colour that really catches the eye. Internally the mahogany is closer to its original darker tones. The roll top and four drawers (two external and two internal) all have good smooth actions with no sticking. On the feet are castors with small brown china wheels. The pull out work surface has the original burgundy/purple leather in good condition.
