I am a violin collector and have for sale a very beautiful antique violin labelled Jacobus Stainer () but almost certainly from the workshop of celebrated 19th century maker Freidrich August Glass (ca.). LOB of 356mm. This is an instrument that stands out in every sense. It is in wonderful condition and has a gorgeous two-piece flamed maple back. The choice of wood is excellent and it is finished in a sumptuous rich hazelnut varnish. As with all violins from this workshop the craftsmanship is of the very best quality. It has very full arching producing a wonderfully big, bold, resonant and yet enchantingly mature sounding instrument that is highly responsive and easy to play. Fitted with Evah Pirazzi strings and professionally set up.
