The pads are made of a soft rubber which feel pretty similar to an actual drum skin. Whilst there are other cheaper electronic kits on the market, the Yamaha DTXplorer is definately worth the extra. The pads & frame are very hard wearing & sounds in the DTX brain are definately superior. The DTXplorer is ideal for students or for anyone who wants to play at home without the whole street knowing about it!
