Lovely condition example of the WW1 Victory Medal (also called the Inter-Allied Victory Medal) with original ribbon. This fine looking example was awarded to: PTE. J.H.BARSTOW S.LAN.R (The South Lancashire Regiment). The design and ribbon was also adopted by Belgium, Brazil, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Romania, Siam, Union of South Africa and the USA in accordance with the decision of the Inter-Allied Peace Conference at Versailles (a 'Winged Victory). A particular form of this historic Greek monument was chosen by each nation, except the nations in the Far East who issued the medal but with a different design. Hi, I'm trying to track down my great grandfathers great war medals. All I know was they where supposed to have been exchanged for something in a school playground in the mid 's in the Belvedere district in London. His name was William Walter Gleed and his service number is . He served with D company 2nd battalion 13th London regiment, princess Louisa Kensington battalion in Saudi Arabia. Any advice or help would be most appreciated to reunite these medals with his son (my grandad) who is just about to celebrate his 90th birthday. P.s it was not him who swapped the medals. Read More

A BOXED ORIGINAL DEFENCE MEDAL ( to ) WITH RIBBON AND CERTIFICATE Awarded to MR A C D Penny of Hastings. Presented in original franked box and with ribbon and a note from the Home Secretary, Central Index, Home Office, Whitehall, SWI. The return address on the back of the box The medal shows the uncrowned head of King George VI. The reverse bears the Royal Crown resting on an oak tree, flanked by two lions above the words 'The Defence Medal', with the date top left and top right. The ribbon is orange coloured in the centre flanked by stripes of green to symbolise enemy attacks on Britain's green and pleasant land, with narrow black stripes to represent the black-out. I understand the Defence Medal was awarded to non-military personnel. This person was in the Intelligence Section of the Civil Defence throughout the war and in the subsequent years until the Civil Defence was disbanded.

The cross is without maker but seems to have a slightly larger frame and is probably a so-called "World War II" production. It is 100% original.The cross is in extremely good collect worthy condition, unfortunately hard on photo. The photos are a bit overexposed in really touched by the najaarsicht, with coal black iron core and really in fantastic condition!Three communication construction, all original and exactly as it should.
