The name of this city is very famous because it also gave its name to the Persian knot, Senneh indeed. But, paradoxically, in the rugs realized in this zone, one uses the Turkish node (Ghiordes). These are traditionally rugs of small format, although in contemporary production the demand of foreign markets has also encouraged the realization of larger formats. The decoration consists of the repetition over the whole field of tightly decorated and tiny decorative motifs from the most frequent Herati to the boteh, to the hasht goli (eight flowers). It is located at meters above sea level in the north-western part of the country at the foot of the Sahan Mountains, not far from the Turkish border and 150 km from the border with Azerbaijan.
