This is a beautiful 8 day longcase clock in very good condition. The movement has been stripped/cleaned and oiled. It has also had new lines fitted and it is in perfect working order couting the hours on a bell. The date aperture is also working. The silvered dial is beautifully engraved and inscribed with the makers name "John Peat" from Crieff, who is listed in Clockmaker's of the world as working in Crieff (Scotland) from to . He is also listed as the maker of the Kenmore church clock. I have found some old paperwork in the case that has a brief history of the clock previous owners. Here is a lovely fully working grandfather Clock from the mid s. It is driven by weights and runs for eight days. It chimes on a cast bell on the hour. The dial features a second and a date hand both of which work. This is a lovely genuine clock that I have had for many years but a move to a modern house forces the sale. It has a lovely steady tick. Attractive oak Grandfather/Longcase clock by George Honeybone c. Famous maker & serviced.

An absolute bargain, REDUCED by £200. This clock is a genuine antique 30 hour longcase clock by a famous maker. The movement is of superior construction with thick brass plates, 4 large brass pillars, and chain winding mechanism. 30 hour clocks only take 10 seconds to wind and are ideally placed on a wall close to an activity performed everyday such as drawing curtains. It has just had an oil service and bees wax polish. George Honeybone came from a family of over 100 years and 4 generations of clockmakers in Fulford, Gloucestershire. He was born in the son of Richard Honeybone. George worked in Fairford from to , and this clock dates from c. The Fairford History Society states: "Honeybone clocks are now much sought after today, particularly in the Cotswolds as they represent fine examples of local craftsmanship and a link to Fairford's past". To see a full account of the history, including pictures and a family tree, search: "Fairford History Society: The Honeybones of Fairford". This clock is particularly attractive with a painted dial showing rural scenes, glazed hood door with old glass, swan neck pedament above with brass finial. Lead weight and period brass pendulum. The trunk door has a working lock and key, and overall the oak case has good patina and has recently been waxed. The size would fit most modern or period properties, the Height is 82" to the top of the finial, Depth 9.5", and Width 19.5". The clock is running, and keeping good time, at my home near Tonbridge in Kent. It can be viewed there.
