For sale is our beloved VW T4 Campervan, we've owned it since and since then we've done miles in it. Mechanically its only let me down once when the 109 relay failed and I couldn't start it, that was an easy fix though. This van has also been my daily driver since owning it so it's not in mint condition, if you're looking for a mint condition van then please look elsewhere, this van is in reasonable condition for its age. It started life as a water-board van for Thames Valley water, there's some history in the file about its life there. The modifications on the van are as follows: Exterior 16" Mercedes Toliman Forged Load Rated Alloy Wheels (From a Mercedes S-Class) BF Goodrich All Terrain Tyres (No arch rubbing) Suspension height is standard with Sachs HD Shocks Powerflow Stainless Steel Exhaust with Lifetime Guarantee Mini Cooper Front Spotlights Paint - Anthracite Grey over Easyjet Orange with Fleck (Its actually aircraft paint) Interior BMW E36 3 Series Leather Front Seats USB/Radio Head unit Electric Hookup with two plug points Leisure battery that powers LED lighting Rock and Roll Safety Bed with Seatbelts, Crash tested, cost £800 Rear of the van is lined with wood & insulated 12V LED Lighting in the rear Rear sunroof (Great when waking up or stargazing) Engine Mechanically sound 2.5TDi AJT 88bhp with Intercooler Timing Belt done 1st March Bad Bits: I've listed these as bad bits, but they're not actually that bad, they're just points that would set it apart from being the van it was when it left the showroom in . The rear arches started to rust a few years ago, the expensive way to sort this out is to find a donor van that hasn't got rusty arches, cut the arch section from that van, then cut the same section from this van and replace it, weld it in place then smooth it over and respray it. I didn't have the £+ to get all that done so I got it done for £450 using metal to metal bonding, it was a job that had to be done, and it was all I could afford at the time, doesn't look too bad. 2. The passenger side door opening mechanism has been a problem pretty much since owning the van, I got sick of the mechanism not working/breaking constantly so I fixed it myself, using a method that ensures that it will always work, if you're pretty handy with these vans you could probably sort this out. 3. I've had 3 Head units in the van since owning it and the radio reception has always been terrible, I had a new aerial fitted by the local Auto electricians, that didn't improve it at all, they couldn't work out why, then I drove into a low ceiling multi-story and snapped off the aerial on the bar before getting in there, so I got a USB head unit and just listened to podcasts etc off the USB. 4. The wooden interior in the back was all done by myself, prior to starting this I had never even put up a shelf, I was terrible at DIY, however I took my time with this and did it over the course of 6 weeks, prior to this it had grey carpeting that had started to come away from the boarded interior and sag, looked terrible. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say this is a 7, It's been great for us, its not a show winning van, it was never supposed to be a show winning van, we just needed it to be cosy and comfortable and its exactly what it is, there's are some dodgy bits around the back door area that are out of line or bare metal is visible but it never bothered us. A lot of Transporter owners are perfectionists, if you're looking for a perfectionists van, then you're better off looking elsewhere as this van is far from perfect. 5. The slightly off colour front wing and slam panel; I had the van resprayed in Nov , Myself and a friend did it in a garage with rented space heaters and makeshift extraction, hence why the insides of the doors are still red, I couldn't afford the £+ to strip everything down and do it properly so I did it myself, the top of the van was completely masked off an d we just sprayed the lower half orange, however shortly after it was done, my wife reversed the van side on into a lampost, tearing off the front wing, slam panel and bumper, this is when i changed to black bumpers as I couldn't find colour coded orange bumpers. The wing was recently sprayed in Ford Focus Orange as its the closest match to EasyJet Orange, its hard to notice the slight colour change up close but you can see it from a distance. This is a good looking fairly priced van with a few bad bits that aren't really that bad, its been ultra reliable and still use it for work, but it has to go, we're a couple with no kids who don't go camping anymore, and we need to have some improvements done to the house, hence the sale of our van.
