Its difficult to assess the true age but indications are that this blanket could be from the s or s and possibly a little older. It came from a lady whose Grandmother sold new Welsh Blankets from a little shop based in the front room of her house in Mumbles, from the s until the s. She bought her stock directly from the mills throughout Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and the Swansea Valley. Narrow loom blankets were woven on a narrow hand loom in two pieces and then usually sewn together to make a larger bedcover. An opportunity to own a wonderful piece of Welsh heritage. Happy to post throughout the UK. I've been collecting Welsh blankets and Carthenni for many years and I've decided to create some space and have a little bit of a clear out. I love them so much but to be honest I've run out of storage space. These wonderful items of Welsh craftsmanship are more popular than ever; in fact you rarely see a photo shoot in Country Living, Country Homes or Period Living without a Welsh blanket draped reassuringly over a chair or sofa. This is a particularly rare blanket made on a narrow loom. Its difficult to assess the true age but indications are that this blanket could be at least 6 decades old, and possibly even more. It came from a lady whose Grandmother sold new Welsh Blankets from a little shop based in the front room of her house in Mumbles, from the s until the s. She bought her stock directly from the mills throughout Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and the Swansea Valley.
