Large Victorian Very Rare Fluted Metal Travel Chest Trunk Vintage Storage Chest Toy Box

Storage Chest Blanket Toy Box Very large and striking looking rare steel trunk with unusual corrugated construction. I have never seen this design before. This is a very rare all steel trunk from the mid Victorian period and is in fantastic condition considering it’s age. Has a few knocks and scrapes but this all ads to the great patina. I cant find the makers name but on the front the trunk has a Patent number on a brass plaque. I have been told that the trunk could have originated in America and on searching on the internet found a similar trunk for sale but a bit smaller and at a cost of $. This trunk has been scrubbed clean and given a wax polish to the protect patina gained over the years. The inside is as original and has not been touched because it has newspaper from stuck to the bottom and I thought this was interesting, this can be easily removed. Now ready to store your vast array of objet d'art. A beautiful and functional piece of furniture with great character. Victorian dome top wood/brass bound travel trunk/chest, storage

This is a lovely old Victorian travel trunk. It has a dome or barrel shape top and is bound with wood and brass. The wood has a brown leather covering. The trunk is in good solid vintage condition and would make a great storage chest. The inside has the original striped paper lining, which is quite tatty and could be replaced. The lid needs an adjustment as it doesn't quite fit into the locks, although this doesn't stop it from closing. 2 castors are missing but, as the remaining 2 disappear into the base when on the floor it still stands on the level. it measures 60 cm wide by 48 cm high, and weighs 10 kilos. Vintage travel trunk, storage unit

Vintage trunk, once used on the railway system, currently used as a decorative storage unit to hold gym equipment so it is quite large. Wanting to sell quickly as I have just graduated from university and there is no space at home for such a large item. There is some damage to the inside of the box from what looks like previous water damage but this hasn't effected the strength or structure of the trunk. The straps all work so the trunk can be closed and use for display purposes only. There is also a key included which should mean that you can lock the front of the trunk however I have not tried to use it as I am afraid it might break or get stuck in the lock due to the age of the item. Vintage Painted Metal Travel Storage Trunk A Large Handsome Vintage Metal painted trunk made by E. Bates of Wolverhampton. Presented in a good condition for its age, the Trunk is finished with a dark brown wood effect paint finish, broken up with bands of yellow. It boasts Two sturdy side metal handles, a brass lock (without key and not sure if it’s still in working order), two good base runners/guards, six metal lid studs and a clean – particularly good – blue painted interior. There is an interior stamped make that reads “PATENT COMBINATION BLOCK No.” Dimensions Overall: 66cm Wide x 44.5 cm Deep x 45cm high. Condition The piece is in good vintage condition with a few small marks, dents, scratches, paint transfer patches and signs of wear in keeping with age (please see photographs). Vintage / Antique Wooden Travel Case / Storage Trunk

In need of a little TLC, as you can see in the attached photos the hinged edge between the two halves has actually come apart. For someone with the right crafting / fixing skills, it would be quite easy to refurbish this with some nice hinges, or even better a classic leather style hinge as you would have seen on trunks like this once upon a time. This minor issue aside the trunk is in fantastic condition for something over 50 years old, and the wooden bracing gives it that fantastic look. Local collection hugely preferred because of size.
