Carved Camphor Wood ’s Oriental Blanket Box Chest

This beautiful blanket box is made of fragrant camphor wood and is partly carved. Its large clean interior is perfect for storing all manner of things from linens to toys. The wood is a rich warm golden brown colour. There is a manufacturers stamp on the underside of the chest stating made in Kowloon, Hong Kong on 30 May . A lovely old piece with lots of charm and character it will look stunning in your home. The chest sits on carved feet and the lid sits securely into place over the base and is partly fitted with a handsome brass catch (part of the fixing to hold the clasp on the chest is missing, refer to picture). CONDITION The condition is very good, structurally it is very solid with some small cosmetic marks, little scratches here and there through use. Refer to picture for a circular infill on the top of the chest. The front looks very slightly bowed but I think is more the character of the wood as the lid fits very snuggle into place. The interior is in good condition and there is an old brass stay to hold the lid open. Hello I'm selling a African / oriental solid wood massive trunk / Camphor chest / box / travelling / mule trunk there are two handles on each side that are thick wood each handle is approximately 25cm long by 10cm wide & 4cms thick has a lift up lid which is between 3-4 cms thickness this chest has all over deep hand carved designs with the two long sides having a tribal village people, huts, trees scene there is a split in wood which is due to the way they used to be made & the age so I didn't repair / restore it so remains original for who ever buys it really is a massive statement piece, one of a kind piece height is 65 cms / 25.5 inches width / length is 142 cms / 56 inches depth is 59 cms / 23.3 inches really is massive would make great coffee table if you have the room this item is solid wood and very heavy collection from Doncaster will need a van or delivery available for extra fee please contact me with postcode for delivery price thankyou

A superb British made antique steamer trunk. Outstanding quality black painted metal with solid wood braces all round. A stunning original coppered interior. This is in completely original condition so has some dents and marks that all add to its character, full of life and history. Writing reads: H.F Tunbridge, c/o Miss D.Mason,501 New South Head RD,Double bay, Sydney,Australia. This could be used for storage (all catches and handles work),perhaps a blanket box at the foot of a bed. At the moment I have it stood on end and am using it as a lamp stand, endless possibilities.
