Carved Camphor Wood ’s Oriental Blanket Box Chest

This beautiful blanket box is made of fragrant camphor wood and is partly carved. Its large clean interior is perfect for storing all manner of things from linens to toys. The wood is a rich warm golden brown colour. There is a manufacturers stamp on the underside of the chest stating made in Kowloon, Hong Kong on 30 May . A lovely old piece with lots of charm and character it will look stunning in your home. The chest sits on carved feet and the lid sits securely into place over the base and is partly fitted with a handsome brass catch (part of the fixing to hold the clasp on the chest is missing, refer to picture). CONDITION The condition is very good, structurally it is very solid with some small cosmetic marks, little scratches here and there through use. Refer to picture for a circular infill on the top of the chest. The front looks very slightly bowed but I think is more the character of the wood as the lid fits very snuggle into place. The interior is in good condition and there is an old brass stay to hold the lid open.
