Vintage dome top steamer trunk

Unrestored Victorian steamer/rail travel trunk with beech wood and metal banding, brass lock and original paper interior. Constructed of solid wood it still has a lot of the original tooled leather covering and also has the original top storage section, which is usually missing. There are two clasps, one each side of the lock, but the leather handles on the sides of the trunk are missing. The under belly has a metal bottom with two wooden runners and small inset wheels. Included are the remnants of a couple of passenger rail tickets (date unknown) which were used on the London Brighton South line. Measurements: 32.5 inches long, 19 inches wide, 21 inches high (top of dome). Collection only. Ad ID:

A superb British made antique steamer trunk. Outstanding quality black painted metal with solid wood braces all round. A stunning original coppered interior. This is in completely original condition so has some dents and marks that all add to its character, full of life and history. Writing reads: H.F Tunbridge, c/o Miss D.Mason,501 New South Head RD,Double bay, Sydney,Australia. This could be used for storage (all catches and handles work),perhaps a blanket box at the foot of a bed. At the moment I have it stood on end and am using it as a lamp stand, endless possibilities. This is a lovely large trunk it has the original locks on the front but the hinges have been replaced, it has a few dings and knocks which you would expect from something over 100 years old but it very solid. It has the wheels on the bottom to make moving easier and has no woodworm or ever has had. Its 30"w x 19"D x 23"H and has been lined in period material.
