A superb British made antique steamer trunk. Outstanding quality black painted metal with solid wood braces all round. A stunning original coppered interior. This is in completely original condition so has some dents and marks that all add to its character, full of life and history. Writing reads: H.F Tunbridge, c/o Miss D.Mason,501 New South Head RD,Double bay, Sydney,Australia. This could be used for storage (all catches and handles work),perhaps a blanket box at the foot of a bed. At the moment I have it stood on end and am using it as a lamp stand, endless possibilities. Hi I have for sale a lovely old Large vintage steamer trunk/chest The steamer trunk has been painted in a soft grey colour and has a lift out tray inside. The trunk does require new leather handles or you could use rope. There is slight bubbling on top and at the back please see pictures, but this does not effect the use of the trunk which is very solid and heavy piece of furniture. Vintage Canvas Trunk Steamer Chest Coffee Table Blanket Box Display Shop Fitting Fabulous vintage trunk which dates to the early twentieth century, which would have originally served as a travel/steamer chest. The trunk is constructed of wood and canvas and is reinforced with riveted bands and shaped metal corner caps. The lid is hinged in three places for strength and has two side locks to the front and a folding central catch. Also at the front is a black swing handle. As with most trunks of this era the inside has been lined with paper. (There is also an old clothing label mysteriously adhered to the inside of the lid, which we have left as part of its history.) The trunk displays the usual signs of age and use, which is part of its vintage character. There is some damage to the wooden trims inside the trunk, and one section is missing, but this does not impede its structural integrity and could be repaired or removed as suits. The trunk is large and capacious, perfect for stowing things away. It could also be used as a blanket box, as a box at the foot of a bed for storing clothes or bedding and, of course, as a coffee/wine table. victorian pine dome steamer trunk / luggage chest in

This is a lovely large trunk it has the original locks on the front but the hinges have been replaced, it has a few dings and knocks which you would expect from something over 100 years old but it very solid. It has the wheels on the bottom to make moving easier and has no woodworm or ever has had. Its 30"w x 19"D x 23"H and has been lined in period material.
