Beautiful one-off wedding dress made in the s. This is an original antique silk piece with a high neck, short sleeves and grey/silver and pearl embroidery on the shoulders and across the waist panel. It also has a tie at the back. It's ankle length and has a lovely shimmer and swingy movement. I've never seen another one like it and felt very proud to be wearing a piece of history on my wedding day. As you would expect for an elderly item it has a small amount of wear and tear but it's in excellent condition considering it's age. It has been professionally cleaned by an antique specialist. Simply stunning vintage-style s pure silk sheath dress. The dress is inspired by the Great Gatsby and has beautifully intricate bead work on the front and back with over hand sewn beads altogether. This dress dates from the early 80"s. It is made from silk and is marked size 12, but is more a size 10. From back of neck to hem it measures 100cm. Glorious turquoise slub silk outer and lined with contrasting lighter turquoise. Pasadena were an Australian company, and the label says "Raja fabric Made In India", "100% hand loom pure silk" and "Sydney Australia" (see photo) I would describe this as slub silk but without any of the big lumpy bits that are typical of slub silk. You can see a "grain" or weave in the fabric, but no bumpy bits (I used to sell high end wedding dresses, and ALL the slub silks had clumpy lumpy bits in them, which is a feature of the fabric, and this looks far more refined than that).
