Vintage Dutch bike in Hastings
I brought this beautiful 'omafiets' (grandmother's bike) back from the Netherlands last year. Although this looks to UK eyes like a ladies' bike, in the Netherlands you'll see these ridden by both men and women. After using her for a year on my daily commute into work in Amsterdam, I couldn't bear to part with her, and so she and I returned to the UK on the ferry. Now, however, I have moved into a third floor flat and there's no room to keep her. So we must part company. I bought the bike in Amsterdam in November . She had just been completely renovated - sprayed black, with new pedals, wheels, tyres, handles, front and rear lights and bell. I also added the incredibly useful elastic straps to the rear luggage rack. I have recently replaced the saddle with a Selle Comfort, put a second bell on, and renewed a tyre. A matching, Stahlex black fabric covered steel chain with two keys for the lock is included. She rides beautifully, and is built to last - Dutch bikes are the last word in quality. As you can see from the photos, there are a few minor marks on the paintwork, and a few small spots of rust beginning. Overall, though, this is a splendid example of a genuine 'Amsterdammer'. I have loved owning her, but now it's time for her to move on, and find another loving owner... Please email through the website to contact me.
