I have a Victorian style marble mantlepiece with a beautiful cast iron fireplace. Bad news - the marble fireplace is broken in parts but can be mended. I think all the pieces are there but I keep finding new bits of it every day. Bad news - the Victorian fireplace has got some superficial rust on it so needs a good scrub and a tin of black plate and will be as good as before. The marble surround features a traditional design from the period, with attractive decorative corbels supporting a bevelled mantelpiece shelf. I have included a picture of what the mantlepiece and fireplace would have looked like originally and could look like again with a bit of tlc. THIS IS A RESTORATION PROJECT I have a Schots Victorian style marble mantlepiece with a beautiful cast iron fireplace. There is also a large grey slate floor flag for the fireplace to stand on. This versatile cast iron fireplace insert, in premium black, is replica of an authentic period piece and features finely detailed casting, can be used for selected gas fires or traditional wood burning. This item has recently undergone a careful restoration including sandblasting, replacing and re-tapping all fixing bolts, screws and finished with several coats of grate polish. The Fireplace measures at mm high x mm wide with the mantle measuring 20y1mm deep. The internal size is 860mm height x 440mm wide which is a standard size. I bought this last year from a family who had, had major renovations done to their home. Unfortunately it was too big for the space I had in mind so ended up purchasing another smaller fireplace. As you can see there is some discolouration and rusting as it was stored in her shed from where I originally purchased, this is easily rectified with a clean you can bring this back to its original form (loads of advice online) It's a beautiful fireplace with all pieces present and correct.
