South African black ironwood table lamp – antique. Unusual. ’s or earlier. This is really a piece of very interesting, very hard wood with a lamp stuck in the top! It works effectively and gives a nice subdued light. The real interest is the wood. Its from South Africa- was brought here in the 70’s when its owners emigrated to the uk. Think its old enough to be classed as antique! Certainly very interesting. Perhaps of use to a sculptor? Its owner refers to it as Afrikaner wood. Lovely part of our technological and social history, needs a good home, good condition for age, the odd blemish but it has lived a long life.
