Unknown designer - Murano glass pendant light

This Murano glass pendant light is quite an eye-catcher both in its illuminated and non-illuminated state. The design consists of three leaf like panels with an outward folding edge. Each segment is manufactured from a mixture of thick transparant and smokey quartz coloured Murano glass. The panels are held together by metal bolts which don't detract from the lamp's delicate composition. The lamp is suspended from the ceiling by the original non-extendable (!) spiral cable. We kept the cable in place as it's proof of its original condition. It has been checked and is still safe to use (220V European standard). But if, for esthetic reasons, a buyer would like to replace the cable, it would be a straightforward job for an electrician or handy man to do. Lovely shape and colour, and special technique.Designer and manufacturer unknown.The design is very organic with a beautifully shaped shade. The colour of the glass shade is between honey and beige. The light effect is very warm.Although this lamp is usually attributed to the Art Deco period (s), we suspect it is from the early s.The mounting mechanism is special; the metal ceiling plate has a handle so three sliding plates can be turned towards the inside or outside, so the shade is clamped down securely. It reminds us of the mechanism of old vaults.Although it is meant as a ceiling light, it can also be attached to the wall.Takes one E27 light bulb, in a screw fitting. The fitting is made of brass and porcelain.Measurements:Diameter: 24.3 cmHeight: 10.5 cmCondition:Very good for its age and use.Glass shade is completely pristine. A bit rough on the inside and some chips missing, but not visible.Some light surface scratches that aren't noticeably in daily use. A six branch ceiling light with the arms made of aluminium and the bulb holders made from painted coloured plastic. It is very light as a result of the materials used.The arms are a pale gold/copper colour but are made from aluminium. It looks as though it has been re-painted at some stage but the light works and is in reasonable 's vintage condition.
